Bonner-Springs
is a river city located in northeast Kansas in Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties. The majority of the city lies in Wyandotte County. As of the 2000 census, the population of Bonner Springs was 6,768 residents. The town is situated on both sides of the Kansas River. Bonner Springs is home to the Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, a privately-funded charitable institution chartered by the U.S. Congress to educate society on the historical and present value of American agriculture and to honor leadership in Agri-Business and Academia by providing education, information, experience and recognition. Bonner Springs is also home to the Wyandotte County Museum and Historical Society, which is located within Wyandotte County Park. Altogether, Bonner Springs has 600 acres for outdoor recreation and golf, as well as camping, charming bed and breakfasts and other accommodations, and a wide variety of restaurants. The Renaissance Festival of Kansas City is an authentic 16th century village in Bonner Springs that is home to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. Other attractions include the Moon Marble Company and the Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone, which features live music performances May through October in a beautiful outdoor setting. The Kansas Speedway and new Village West entertainment district are located just minutes from Bonner Springs.

The Northeast Corner of Kansas has a climate that is classified as humid continental, with hot, somewhat humid summers and cold, fairly dry winters. Typically the first fall freeze occurs between the last week of September and the end of October, and the last spring freeze occurs between the first week of April and early May. Northeast Kansas receives approximately 36 inches of precipitation during an average year with the most received in May and June. Thunderstorms can be severe, producing lightening, large hail and sometimes tornadoes. Snowfall is generally light, due to the dry, sunny weather patterns that dominate Kansas winters. Snow depth of at least an inch occurs an average of 26 days per year.
