Fairway
, nicknamed "The City of Trees," is located in Johnson County in northeast Kansas. It is a suburb of Kansas City. As of the 2000 census, the population of Fairway was 3,952 residents. The city of Fairway has the advantage of having a small town atmosphere yet is near all the attractions and advantages of the big city. The Fairway area offers world-class restaurants, an eclectic mix of shops, a vibrant arts scene, museums and fun family attractions. Some of the places to see include the National World War I Museum, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kansas City Zoo, the Kansas Speedway and the side-by-side theme parks, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. Children will love Science City, a hands-on children's museum at Union Station and Kaleidoscope, which allows kids to explore their creativity during free workshops. For adults, there are four casinos located in Kansas City that offer traditional gaming, dining and live entertainment. Kansas City is also home to one of the Midwests largest farmers markets, called City Market. You can find unique boutiques, antique shops, year-round greyhound racing, golf, bumper cars and go-carts, theater and so much more. In addition, after the sun goes down, the area of Westport in Kansas City becomes a nightlife hotspot. Of course, whats really nice is that for those who want peace and seclusion after hours, the small town of Fairway offers just that - a quiet place to rest after a day of exploring the exciting attractions that the whole region has to offer.

The Northeast Corner of Kansas has a climate that is classified as humid continental, with hot, somewhat humid summers and cold, fairly dry winters. Typically the first fall freeze occurs between the last week of September and the end of October, and the last spring freeze occurs between the first week of April and early May. Northeast Kansas receives approximately 36 inches of precipitation during an average year with the most received in May and June. Thunderstorms can be severe, producing lightening, large hail and sometimes tornadoes. Snowfall is generally light, due to the dry, sunny weather patterns that dominate Kansas winters. Snow depth of at least an inch occurs an average of 26 days per year.
